The GENRE DRIFT ENGINE is a structured, repeatable creative workflow designed to produce cinematic visuals, sequences, and animations using AI. It mirrors traditional film, design, and animation production, replacing physical production with AI tools while prioritising preparation, direction, and continuity.

Idea development and world building

Each project starts with a genre. From that, a world is built, then locations, then the lore that gives them meaning. Stories emerge from this world rather than being forced onto it. These ideas are shaped into storyboards, then refined into shot lists and clear requirements for locations, characters, outfits, vehicles, props, and products. This stage defines the narrative and structure before any visuals are created. References are gathered for tone, light, colour, texture, composition, and materials to set clear visual rules and avoid generic results.

Design development and design locking

Based on the shot lists and style references, prompts are used to generate design concepts for characters, vehicles, props, environments, and graphics. These designs are iterated and refined, then produced from multiple angles on neutral or white backgrounds to ensure clarity and control. The prompts and descriptions are then refined to accurately describe the final designs. Once approved, the prompts, descriptions, and images are locked and stored in a design dossier. This dossier becomes the single source of truth, ensuring consistency across all future work.

Production and scene creation

Locked assets from the design dossier are combined into scenes using AI. This stage mirrors photography and cinematography, defining framing, camera, lens, lighting, environment, and overall look. The results are finished frames that act as keyframes for animation. The process can be fully AI-driven or manually directed where needed.

Refinement, sound, and animation

Visual refinement continues at the scene level to maintain realism, continuity, and tone. Lighting and composition are adjusted. AI artefacts are corrected to ensure quality control. Sound design and voice-over are developed in parallel. Animation is then produced from the established scenes and keyframes, with minimal prompting because the intent is already built into the imagery.

Editing and output

Animation, sound, and visuals are edited and mixed before final output. The worlds, designs, and assets are locked and documented, so they can be reframed across multiple formats, sequences, and projects without restarting the process.
